FOCUS POWER CHICAGO

About Me

THE FOCUS POWER CHICAGO ORIGIN STORY

By Jaime Michael Espinoza

I was born into a world of hustle, service, and big personalities.
In 1992 my father ran his own restaurant in Chicago — the owner, the GM, and the bartender all at once. My mother was an event coordinator and server, creating experiences and connecting with people on the floor. They separated by the time I was eight, and in 2000 I was living in the suburbs while my mom worked customer service for Comcast.

But my story really begins with music.

As a kid, I became the go-to DJ for my little cousins — we called them “Jimmy Jammin’ Parties.” My oldest sister, who lived with her father across town, would visit every weekend and expand my creative world. She introduced me to songwriting, dancing, beat-making, and the behind-the-scenes of the music industry. Every visit sharpened my creativity and showed me what was possible.

In high school, creativity became my lifeline.
I wasn’t strong academically — in fact, I was at risk of failing — but every extracurricular saved me. I performed in school musicals, talent shows, circus acrobatics, dance teams, DJ’d private parties, and joined creative writing teams coached by teachers and college professors. I traveled across the state performing poetry and motivational pieces. Those experiences are what pushed me across the graduation stage.

By 18, I turned my creativity into entrepreneurship.

I launched a wholesale hat business and taught myself marketing, sales, inventory control, website design, and promotions. At 21, I rose to Team Lead at a call center, putting in 40+ hours a week learning telesales, absorbing leadership principles from operations managers with 20+ years of experience. They poured knowledge into me — management, communication, scripts, and psychology.

By 23, I was managing a 20-person sales team for US Bank.
I raised call quality, sharpened closing ratios, boosted morale, built team culture, and used interactive games to coach performance. Everything I knew — rebuttals, product knowledge, persuasion — came alive in that room.

At 25, I returned to music and built a DJ service business that landed me a residency.
Week after week, 104+ gigs a year, I built a loyal base and scalable income — growing from $18k a year part-time to $35k a year by 2025. Along the way I worked security across Chicago’s nightlife scene, gaining firsthand insight into human behavior, conflict, communication, and personalities.

Then 2020 hit.
COVID shut down all my ventures overnight.
The venue I DJ’d at for six years closed.
I was evicted, savings wiped out, assets lost, dreams paused.

For three years I fought instability — late payments, failed plans, starting over again and again.

In 2022, things got worse.
A major car accident totaled both my vehicle and the other person’s. Over $12k in damages. I suffered foot injuries and months of painful recovery. I battled depression, family friction, and an internal identity collapse.

Everyone told me to “just get a job.”
But I couldn’t go backwards.

By 2024, I was sleeping in my car… then in a storage unit.
Visiting family when possible, trying not to disrupt anyone, drowning in emotional noise and fractured relationships.

There were nights I sat with a gun in my lap wondering if this story was supposed to end early.

But it didn’t.

Because something inside me refused to die — the part of me that knew I was meant for something bigger.

With a few younger cousins, I started exploring deeper truths about reality — consciousness, esoteric knowledge, natural healing, metaphysics, the power of awareness, The Master Key Society, The Kybalion, The Law of Mind.

And in that journey, I discovered the pattern behind everything I had lived through:

The human habit of hypnosis.

Not stage hypnosis —
but the subconscious patterns, beliefs, conditioning, fears, triggers, motivations, and habits that run our lives without awareness.

I realized my entire life had been shaped by subconscious programming — and I could change it.

Searching for training, I found Dr. John Kappas and the Hypnosis Motivation Institute.
Everything clicked.
All my pain, all my experiences, all my creativity, all my leadership, all my sales psychology I finally had a system to unify it.

In 2025, after graduating from HMI, I founded:

FOCUS POWER CHICAGO®

A motivational hypnotherapy practice designed to help people and teams reprogram their subconscious, reshape their habits, and rise into the life they were built for.

Focus Power Chicago is everything I am
the music, the leadership, the adversity, the esoterics, the psychology, the sales training, the human behavior analysis, and the mission to help people transform.

  • My entire life was the practicum.
The certification simply gave the journey a name.
