A body syndrome is a physical manifestation of an emotional trauma. When an emotion is held in or repressed instead of being processed and released, it may express itself as physical discomfort. Prolonged discomfort may, over time, become dis-ease, contributing to “stress-related” problems such as ulcers, IBS, or chronic pain.
Emotions travel along the nervous system as electrical impulses and tend to settle in areas of soft tissue. Specific emotional themes often land in predictable regions – head and chest, shoulders, waist and hips, arms and hands, or legs and feet.
